Chapter 2: This is the master
The Lin family was a little famous in Yuncheng, known since three generations.
Lin Qi was less than 50 years and unlike most people his age, one could only see his youthful elegance and gentleness that exuded from him as he watched through his gold-rimmed glasses.
When Ning Qing married Lin Qi, even Qin Ran thought that she was lucky.
Lin Qi held a cigarette in his hand and thought about it before putting his hand down. “Xiao Qing has told me about this matter. You can be rest assured that I have sent people to work on this.”
Chen Shulan, a rural woman with little culture, was in a state of panic when she first came to this noble family.
Even if Lin Qi had a good attitude towards her, she was still somewhat uneasy. Lin Qi noticed this but he smiled and drank tea with Chen Shulan, saying a few words occasionally so that she wouldn’t feel embarrassed. They waited for Ning Qing to return.
Qin Ran’s back rested against the sofa. She bent over her phone and seemed to be playing a game. Her fingers were delicate and beautiful, seeming even fairer because of the lights.
Her eyebrows were drooped and from where Lin Jinxuan sat, he could see her long eyelashes trembling slightly. It seemed that she felt his gaze and she slowly looked up.
She had clean, clear eyes, not at all afraid like Chen Shulan. They were calm like a cold pool, dark and profound. The rebellion and defiance was etched in her bones that couldn’t be concealed at all. She was a beauty that couldn’t be seen in a thousand years.
Lin Jinxuan’s hands holding a cup of tea, paused. He wasn’t embarrassed being caught at staring. Instead, he gave her a distant smile. Qin Ran slowly changed her position and looked down, continuing to play on her phone. She was surrounded by an air that screamed “don’t mess with me”.
Lin Jinxuan, who had never been received with such coldness, was once again stunned.
After a while, he reacted, turning off his cell phone and leaning against the sofa, smiling. There was a trace of discomfort on that cultured and refined face.
Being proud and arrogant wouldn’t work.
Chen Shulan knew that Qin Ran loved to play on her cell phone and it was fine on ordinary days. When she had blamed her for it, the other had looked at her with a pair of beautiful misty apricot eyes.
Who could stand this?
Chen Shulan lost her temper.
What else could be done?
She could only get used to this.
Don’t talk about just playing games, even if she skipped class, Chen Shulan would turn a blind eye to it as if she were a fool.
She had lived so long, it was the first time she was so indulgent of her children and grandchildren.
But now that Qin Ran had been out of school for a year and Chen Shulan had dealt with the disease, this was the first time that she was callous towards Qin Ran acting coquettishly. Regardless of the method the girl used, Chen Shulan was dead set on bringing Qin Ran to Yuncheng to attend school.
Lin Qi, the master of the Lin family, was right in front of her. Chen Shulan wanted Qin Ran to wholeheartedly make a good impression on him. She reminded Qin Ran not to play games anymore but to perform well in front of Lin Qi.
It was just that… she hated to be fierce towards her.
Chen Shulan was worried. This girl was so arrogant, when she passed away, who would manage her?
The whole room was full of minds thinking different things and so no one spoke. When Ning Qing returned with Qin Yu, the atmosphere suddenly relaxed.
Seeing the sweet Qin Yu behind Ning Qing, the smile on Lin Qi’s face became warmer.
Mrs Zhang who had been cold towards Qin Ran and Chen Shulan, greeted the pair and picked up the bag in Qin Yu’s hand respectfully.
The people on the sofa, including Lin Qi, stood up.
Staring at Chen Shulan, Qin Ran stood idly by the sofa, looking at Qin Yu and Ning Qing coolly.
Cold and arrogant.
After a glance, she looked down at her phone and didn’t play games, as if chatting with someone.
Qin Ran’s resumé was so bad to even ordinary people, let alone in front of Lin Jinxuan and the super group he belonged to.
Thinking about this matter, Ning Qing was restless.
Where was Ning Qing’s face in front of Lin Jinxuan, the heir to the Lin family, to mention Qin Ran? It was asking for everyone to see a joke. So she kept talking to Chen Shulan and Lin Qi without mentioning Qin Ran.
“Yu’er was rehearsing her violin for the high school celebration, so we came late.” Speaking about Qin Yu, Ning Qing’s eyes were bright with a smile on her face.
“Violin performance?” Chen Shulan was surprised and looked at Qin Yu a few more times. Mrs Zhang brought two cups of tea in. When she heard Chen Shulan say this, she said, “The young lady has been learning violin since she was a child, she even skipped ninth grade, and whenever the school has an event it asks the young lady at once to perform.”
Ning Qing was extremely proud of this daughter for whom she had spent countless efforts to cultivate.
Chen Shulan was also quite pleased but she was uncomfortable when she heard Mrs Zhang’s implied tone. The smile on her face fell.
When Qin Yu returned, she went straight to Lin Jinxuan’s side and held his hand, smiling, “Brother, how come you are back?”
“There is a project to work on,” Lin Jinxuan’s eyes narrowed as he spoke in a rare, light tone.
After all, she was the only girl in his generation and Qin Yu was very popular in the Lin family. Lin Jinxuan was therefore somewhat indulgent.
As he said this, he glanced at Qin Ran who had one hand in her pocket and the other hand holding the phone casually, playing on the sofa with her eyes downwards, looking very moody.
Qin Yu saw Lin Jinxuan’s unusual look and she subconsciously turned towards where he was looking. On her way back, Ning Qing had given her a preventive shot, so she naturally knew about Qin Ran being here. She looked at Qin Ran who looked back calmly.
The housekeeper quickly arranged a good dinner.
While eating, Lin Qi looked at Qin Ran and thought for a bit before saying, “You will attend the same high school as Yu’er, you can interact with her well, then.”
His tone was neither hurried nor too slow.
When he finished saying this, the atmosphere at the table changed. Qin Yu was eating and when she heard this, her chopsticks paused. She glanced at Qin Ran, laughing, “High school? Just like me?”
Qin Ran was older than Qin Yu by a year.
Even Mrs Zhang, standing at the side, couldn’t help but take a quick look at Qin Ran. She then lowered her face. Tsk, she had though that Qin Ran was coming to Yuncheng to attend university.
Ning Qing’s face became rigid. She had never been so humiliated in the Lin family for so many years.
Lin Qi who was sitting close to Qin Yu, said mildly, “Your sister has to repeat the third year of high school because of some reasons.”
Even if she was going to repeat a year, she wasn’t going to get any better grades in any case.
“So that’s how it is.”
Qin Yu laughed. “Oh!” She then nodded and stopped talking.
The Lin family knew that Qin Yu had long sat firmly within the top five ranks in her grade.
Ning Qing finally reacted by saying that in fact, she meant to send Qin Ran to a private school but didn’t expect that Lin Qi would enrol her into the same school as Qin Yu.
As everyone knew, that was the best school in Yuncheng.
To get someone like Qin Ran with a bad track record and black history into this school, Lin Qi must have owed a lot of favours to the principal.
The school was basically for top students. A person like Qin Ran there was an anomaly. “But this school is not a good place to go for her,” Ning Qing knew this and suddenly felt depressed, her stomach turning.
For a few moments, she thought about something. “Ran Ran, I remember that when you were a kid, you went to a violin class? How good are you now?”
The school had an art class.
