The man glanced at the massive signboard again, his gaze deep and unreadable. This was one of the most influential places in the city. Had she pointed at it randomly, or did she have ulterior motives?

Leng Yiyao didn’t care about his reaction. She crossed the street and walked straight toward the entrance.

A casino operating so openly in broad daylight—honestly, aside from gambling cities like Las Vegas, she had never seen such blatant extravagance anywhere else.

After all, the house always wins. Casinos weren’t ordinary businesses; anyone who could run a place this grand definitely had a foot in both the legal and underground worlds.

She had killed someone—a royal, no less. Escaping from this city under martial law wouldn’t be easy unless she employed some unconventional methods. The problem was the man behind her. His identity and intentions were unknown. She needed to find a way to shake him off before she could return to the Leng family in peace.

While calculating her next move, she took in the scale of the casino.

It took a full five minutes to walk from the entrance to the grand main doors. Luxury cars came and went, but she hadn’t seen a single person arrive on foot like her.

Sure enough, before she could step inside, four men in black robes blocked her path. They eyed her veil for a moment, then shifted their gazes to the man behind her, their expressions questioning.

According to desert customs, the person of higher status always walked ahead. Not to mention, women here had a lower social standing than men. Judging by the way this man was dressed, he was clearly someone of importance. So why was he letting a woman walk in front of him?

Leng Yiyao froze for a second before realizing what kind of world she was in and what it meant to be a woman here.

“Weak and oppressed”—even that phrase wasn’t enough to describe the harsh reality.

Wealthy men could buy common women as slaves, concubines, or even mistresses.

Unless a woman was born into nobility, she wouldn’t even have the right to say no.

Her behaviour just now—walking ahead while he followed—was only acceptable if she were a noblewoman. Otherwise, she should have already been dragged off for a lesson.

The man stepped beside her, no longer surprised by her strange actions.

Was this woman truly clueless about social norms, or was there something wrong with her brain? He figured he’d have an answer within a day.

Looking at the four guards blocking their path, he gave a slight nod before turning to her with an indescribable expression.

“You could’ve at least waited until after using the bathroom before rushing in like this.” His voice was indifferent, almost amused.

“Pfft—!”

Leng Yiyao swore she just heard those four guards stifle their laughter!

Screw you!

You’re the one who’s desperate for the toilet! Your whole family is desperate for the toilet!

But could she say that out loud?

No.

Because those four men who had been staring at her suspiciously just moments ago were now looking at her with sudden understanding, stepping aside as if urging her to go handle her urgent needs.

Holding back for too long isn’t good for your health.

Walking ahead of the man? Understandable. A desperate situation.

They got it, they got it…

Got your ass!

Leng Yiyao shot a furious glare at the real troublemaker, clenched her teeth, and took a deep breath.

“It’s still early. There aren’t many guests inside yet, miss. Please, go ahead,” one of the guards kindly reminded her, even signalling to someone inside.

As soon as he finished speaking, the grand doors of the casino swung open.

Leng Yiyao narrowed her eyes, then turned toward the entrance. Suddenly, she smiled sweetly—radiant, like the spring breeze.

This man wanted to embarrass her by saying she couldn’t hold back?

Fine. She’d make sure that he experienced what it truly meant to not hold back!
