As they stepped into the casino, she suddenly turned around and smiled at him, a smile full of hidden meaning.

“I just realised something,” she said.

“What?” His gaze paused slightly, catching the faint glimmer of expression beneath her veil.

“What’s your name? I can’t just keep calling you ‘hey’ all the time.” She had only just noticed the inconvenience of not knowing his name when they were stopped at the entrance. If anything unexpected happened, people might suspect they were there to stir up trouble. With the heaven and earth as her witness, she was just here to ‘broaden her horizons.’

“Zhai Mu,” he replied indifferently, his gaze lingering on her, as if trying to decipher something.

“Leng Yao,” she answered without hesitation, offering an alias. The surname Leng was common enough here, and dropping one character made it even harder to trace her true identity.

They walked side by side, and Leng Yiyao made a brief detour, pretending to stop by the restroom before exchanging some chips and heading to the central area.

Under the dazzling crystal chandeliers, the hall sparkled with gold and glass reflections. The grand casino housed 800 gambling tables, neatly arranged, exuding extravagance.

The air was thick with perfume and money, as high-rolling gamblers splurged fortunes in a single bet. Piles of chips stacked on the tables reflected a mesmerizing scene—some whispered among themselves, others frowned in deep thought, their expressions tense.

Despite it still being broad daylight, the gambling tables buzzed with activity. Baccarat, blackjack, dice games—every form of betting imaginable was in full swing.

She observed the crowd carefully and noticed that locals in traditional robes were not the majority. Surprisingly, most of the players were foreigners.

Due to prolonged sun exposure, local men had wheat-coloured skin, whereas the foreigners were noticeably paler, standing out even more under the bright lights.

Casino hostesses, dressed elegantly, weaved through the crowd. Sometimes, they flirted with familiar guests, but most of the time, they used other tricks to charm tips or gambling funds from the patrons.

Leng Yiyao noticed something interesting—none of the hostesses wore veils. Their alluring eyes seemed to speak, clinging onto the gamblers. Any man who met their gaze found it hard to look away.

Except for one.

Leng Yiyao couldn’t help but smirk. These hostesses’ seductive efforts were completely wasted on one particular man. No matter how flirtatious they were, Zhai Mu brushed past them effortlessly—not even sparing them a glance.

Tsk, tsk. Watching one disappointed beauty after another, Leng Yiyao almost felt bad for them. Did these women seriously think he was an easy target?

“What are you looking at?” A deep voice suddenly whispered near her ear.

She smiled calmly and pointed towards a row of luxurious private rooms behind the hostesses, her expression full of curiosity. “Are those rooms not in operation?” Their doors were tightly shut, with not even a sliver of light escaping—clearly different from the rest of the casino.

Zhai Mu chuckled, his tone carrying a hint of amusement. “No, it’s not that they’re closed. It’s that… certain people aren’t allowed in.”

A VIP section then?

Leng Yiyao’s curiosity deepened as she glanced around the casino, impressed by its sheer scale.

Just as they were chatting casually, a sudden commotion erupted at one of the gambling tables in the central hall.

Chairs scraped against the floor, followed by a sharp, piercing voice that rang through the casino—

“F*ck! You dare to cheat?!”
